In an attempt to fly under the radar after President Trump’s executive order eliminating DEI positions, Maria Carranza changed her title on LinkedIn to remove any mention of diversity and #HealthEquity.

However, her work isn’t so easily erased. Prior to NIH, she worked for the National Science Foundation NSF INCLUDES initiative “where she co-led the development of the NSF INCLUDES Special Report to the Nation II and was a contributor to the Interagency Working Group for Inclusion in STEM.”[NSF INCLUDES (which has also conveniently removed any of the DEI buzzwords from its mission) was created to build “collaborative infrastructure” which includes “more equitable networks that accelerate change,” and is “open to anyone interested in improving diversity and inclusion in STEM.”
Dr. Maria Carranza, a former professor turned DEI training officer, shared an article on X.com about how to be a more inclusive teacher.
In this article, one of the suggestions is for the teacher to share his/hers/theirs and have students share their pronouns on the first day of class as a “welcoming gesture” to the LGBTQIA community.
