Leggett and #NotMyPresident

In the days following President Trump’s elimination of DEI offices, La’Roz Leggett liked a post criticizing the website for the NIH Office of Sexual and Gender Minority Health being deleted.  According to the CDC, a “gender minority” is an individual whose gender identity is different that their sex assigned at birth. There should not be an office for transgenders in the NIH.

Also concerning was some of the hashtags involved: #notmypresident#resist #research #resist #pediatrician #publichealth #sciencematters #lgbtq#gender #newyear2025 #transgender

If you don’t want to acknowledge President Trump as your president and intend to “resist” his actions, you shouldn’t be an employee in his administration.

DEI Programs Were Never Enough, Anyway

The NIH programs “we are fighting to protect are deeply inequitable, and the many DEI programs are incredibly performative and superficial—not leading to meaningful structural change.”

Imagine working in DEI and liking a post that basically says your work was a performance. That’s what La’Roz Leggett did. The post goes onto say it’s time to “reimagine these institutions, programs etc so that equity and justice are the bedrock.”

Eliminating these offices was a good thing. Even Ms. Leggett thinks they were ineffective.
